Best Time to Buy

September 27, 2010

It’s a new season and most stores are itching to get rid of items so they can stock their shelves with new stuff.

These are a few perfect items to buy during the fall months when you’re looking to save the most money:

Electronics: October is the first month that you’ll start seeing holiday deals, so start shopping before everything is picked over!

Outdoor items: Stores are making room for winter accessories, which means great deals for outdoor items. Think of anything from lawnmowers to swimwear. Don’t forget patio furniture and a new grill for the back porch.

Cars: The 2011 models are starting to come out, so car dealers are ready to make room in their parking lots. Look for great deals on cars and our auto loan rates are still the lowest around. This is a great time to buy!

Toys: Remember that the best new toys come out this time of year, which means stores need to make room on their shelves. Check out the amazing sale prices on toys that stores are trying to get rid of.

Plants and trees: Look for great deals at the nursery this time of year and get planting so the roots and take hold before the first frost (or save them until spring).

Fall Cleaning

September 24, 2010

I know you’ve all heard of ‘spring cleaning’, but this year I’m thinking a fall cleaning is going to make for a better winter.  Since winter is just around the corner and we’re going to be stuck in the house for a few months, it’s really the perfect time to get the house in order.

Fall cleaning to-do list:

  • Check fireplaces and heaters to be sure they are in good condition for the cold weather
  • Shampoo or steam clean rugs and carpets – once or twice a year is sufficient
  • Dust everything
  • Clean window treatments – check labels to be sure curtains are washable
  • Wash pillows – check labels
  • Replace summer clothes with your winter wardrobe
  • Check fire safety devices – replace batteries if needed

Once you’ve given the house a thorough cleaning, you may find that you have stumbled upon a few items worth getting rid of.

What to do with all that junk once you’ve cleaned:

  • Old clothes can be sent to The Salvation Army
  • Gently worn clothes can be sold at consignment shops – a great way to put a little extra cash in your pocket for the holidays
  • Have a yard sale
  • eBay – perfect for books, toys, art, and antique items

Happy cleaning!

Why is Enterprise a Good Car Choice?

September 15, 2010

Buying a car stresses most of us out, me included. So many choices, so much money. And even though buying a used car is the financially saavier choice, what if the car has some indiscretions in its past that you don’t know about? (And why does buying a car seem to be an analogy for dating?)

This is exactly why buying a car from Enterprise Car Sales is so helpful. A few years ago, I bought a car from Enterprise, and I can’t say enough about it. Here’s why you ought to consider choosing Enterprise too:

1. Despite what people think about buying a rental car, the cars that Enterprise sells are extremely well-maintained. 50% of their their rental fleet are people renting because their car is in the shop, so these cars are usually driven between home, work, and local errands. Rental cars receive higher amounts of oil changes, car washes, and general maintenance than a privately-owned car. And in in addition to that, Enterprise will not sell a vehicle that has incurred more than $1,000 in damage.

2. All vehicles have passed a 109-point certification. DANG.

3. The pricing is no-haggle. What you see is what you get; no intimidating negotiations. And at our car sale this Friday and Saturday, they can guarantee that the prices will be BELOW NADA Retail Value.

4. You can return the car within 7 days if you change your mind on it. Have you EVER heard of an auto dealership with a return policy?

5. All vehicles come with a 12 month/12,000 mile limited powertrain warranty.

6. They take trade-ins. And at our car sale this weekend, they’ll give you Kelley Blue Blook Trade-In Value PLUS $500!

If you’re thinking about buying a used car, I recommend Enterprise anytime. But, if you shop this weekend at our car sale, you’ll get additional incentives: your first month’s payment made for you (two months if you get pre-approved before Friday), rates as low as 3.99% APR, and the $500 bonus on your trade-in.

Car Sale – This Week!

September 13, 2010

It’s the week of the Enterprise Car Sale and we’re excited to sell some great cars at the Redmond Road office on Friday and Saturday!

If you’re in the market for a car, this is the place to be this weekend.

But before you stop by on Friday or Saturday to take a look at the Enterprise car options, you’ll want to get pre-approved.

Here’s why:

  • We’ll make your first TWO payments if you are pre-approved before Friday, September 17! (We’re already paying your first payment, but getting pre-approved is the only way to get your second month paid!)
  • Getting pre-approved now will save you time and paperwork when you get your auto loan.
  • You’ll have the convenience of knowing exactly what you can afford before you start looking for a car.
  • You can check out the Enterprise cars online and let us know which ones you would like to see at the Car Sale on Friday and Saturday!

So, stop by this week to get pre-approved. You don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to get your first TWO payments paid!

Be sure to check out the Enterprise cars at cuautodeals.com and give us a call when you see one that you like! We want to make sure the cars you want to see are at the Car Sale.

We’ll see you at the Enterprise Car Sale this weekend! We’ll be here at the Redmond Road office on Friday, September 17 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm or Saturday, September 18 from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm.

What I've Learned From Dave Ramsey

September 8, 2010

The Marketing Department (all two of us) here at NWGACU happens to be big fans of personal finance education. We soak in as much as we can, we teach what we know, and we live out what we can remember.

We all know that Tiffany gets her financial advice from her BFF, Dave Ramsey. And I’m a huge fan of Clark Howard, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t learn a thing or two from ‘The Total Money Makeover’ guy.

Dave (that’s what I like to call him as if we’re on a first name basis) picked up a whole lot of debt in short amount of time when he was in his 20s.  He took what he learned on his road out of debt to teach others how to be successful financially.

Here’s what I’ve learned from Dave:

  • Emergency funds – you should always have one. Dave recommends $1,000 to be saved up for emergencies, others say you should keep a few months of your salary stashed for emergencies. Either way – you need an emergency fund.
  • “Personal finance is 80% behavior and 20% head knowledge.” Keeping track of your finances is a discipline and being financially successful is not about making tons of money, it’s about using what you have well.
  • The debt snowball. I would say this is Dave’s trademark. Whenever I hear someone talk about trying to get rid of debt, they are likely to bring up the debt snowball – paying off small balances first and working your way up to the larger ones.

There is plenty more personal finance to learn from Dave, but those are the tips that stand out to me. What about you? Who taught you about personal finance?
